“Whāia te mātauranga hei oranga mō koutou”
Seek wisdom for the sake of your well-being

Since 2017, ASPIRE 2025 and NIHI have collaborated to host Smokefree Symposia where smoke-free researchers can meet, share ideas, and collaborate. As many of us have found, 2020 has presented new challenges, but we remain committed to ensuring we connect with each other and share ideas. After a year where so many of us have had to rearrange, re-schedule and re-plan our work, it’s time to acknowledge, reflect on, and celebrate what we have been able to do, whether that involved data collection, planning, undertaking reviews or other work.

What the day will hold

This symposium showcases research from our post-graduate students, and early and mid-career researchers, who are quickly establishing themselves as smokefree research leaders.  The presentations will address questions that should be of particular interest to people in the public health and smokefree sectors, and others interested in public health policy.

We are also very pleased to announce two outstanding guest speakers:

  • Dr Raglan Maddox, Australian National University, who will reflect on indigenous research and explore how non-indigenous researchers can support indigenous research.
  • Associate Professor Sarah Durkin, Cancer Council Victoria, who will reflect on her career and offer the advice she wishes she had received when she was first starting in research.

Registration

We invite you to join us online to hear from emerging research leaders who will share their findings.

Please register here  before midday on Wednesday 18 November
