What will it cover?

We will present the latest research evidence from recent surveys and in-depth studies of vapers and vaping behaviours. Sessions will discuss how ENDS could contribute to the 2025 goal, address disparities in smoking and how ENDS fit within smokefree plans, such as the ASAP report. We will explore uptake among NZ smokers, probe whether and how movement from smoking to vaping occurs, and explore the motivations, experiences and intentions of different ENDS user groups. The day will include a panel discussion featuring researchers, practitioners with expertise in using e-cigs for cessation, and representatives of the vaping sector.

The course will also examine what these findings mean for practice and policy, consider the advice community workers could provide to smokers, and review how policies could protect vulnerable groups while supporting smokers who cannot quit to transition fully to ENDS.

Who is it for?

This course is aimed at people who want to know more about ENDS uptake, how ENDS might contribute to the 2025 goal, and what cautions we might need to exercise. People who work with smokers, support vapers, develop policy and undertake research should find the material covered relevant to their work. No specific prior experience is required.
