What an interactive and inspiring day this was! Thanks so much to all participants, we will keep you posted on agreed outcomes in the very near future.

If you have an interest in helping achieve a smokefree Aotearoa by 2025, we invite you to register now for our Public Health Summer School course:

Smokefree2025 : Ten years and counting
Date: 9th February, 2015
Where: University of Otago campus in Newtown, Wellington.

What will it cover?

Hosted by ASPIRE2025, this course will explore critical questions around achieving a Smokefree Aotearoa by 2025, present new ideas and develop a plan for what needs to happen to achieve our goal with ten years to go. Together we will address questions such as:

  • Are we on track to enjoying a Smokefree Aotearoa for all by 2025?
  • What do the latest trends and projections tell us?
  • How does this evidence inform the interventions and strategies we should adopt?
  • What are Māori and Pacific perspectives on these approaches?
  • How can local actions and strategies complement (and lead) national strategies?

Who is it for?

The day will be particularly relevant to people involved in developing smokefree initiatives and policy. The course is designed to assist and support members of the smokefree community who work to support and maintain smokefree behaviour. It should be of interest to researchers, and those involved in social marketing and health promotion initiatives at national or community level. Policy makers would also benefit from the course content and networking opportunities.

If you want to see a Smokefree Aotearoa by 2025, please think about attending; we’d love the opportunity to share our ideas and learn from your experiences.
