Thursday, 24th August 2023
12 to 12:50pm (NZST)

If you would like to request a copy of the webinar recording or slides, please email Jacqui Hardingham at jacqui.hadingham@otago.ac.nz.

Presenter:

Dr Jude Ball, University of Otago

About the webinar:

This webinar will provide a sneak preview of findings from a qualitative study that explored what attracts adolescents to vaping, what deters those who do not vape, and how vaping affects the lives of teens who vape regularly. The findings are based on interviews with 64 participants aged 14-17 years from a school in the Wellington region. By focusing on young people’s perspectives and experiences, we can gain important insights to guide policy, practice and research about youth vaping.

About the presenter:

Jude is a senior research fellow affiliated to the ASPIRE Aotearoa tobacco control research centre,  HePPRU, and the Adolescent Health Research Group (the team behind the Youth 2000 survey series). Her research focuses on the impact of the changing social context on youth trends, and the inter-relationships between smoking and other risk behaviours in young people.
